Vienna Elite will be fielding a team of (11 or 12)* highly skilled U16 players. Our program is expected to be one of the most rigorous training programs in the Region. The team is expected to be a competitive "OPEN" level team which will compete in selected multi-day tournaments and local CHRVA tournaments (Refer to tentative schedule below).
The U16 team is expected to practice twice per week. During the training months of November and December as well as on non-tournament weekends from January thru May, the Club may also hold "Academy" which will focus on specific skills (i.e. serving, passing, setting, team defense etc). Academy will be run by special instructors or by Vienna Elite coaches.
Our club strives to be the best club in Northern Virginia when considering competitiveness of teams, level of coaching, club fees, number of tournaments and overall access to court time. Our players love to play volleyball and want to compete at a high level!
* At the discretion of the club 1 or 2 "practice players" will be considered depending on the circumstances of the team. Practice players will not participate in any matches or tournaments unless specifically called upon by the Head Coach.
Anna Grace (USAV IMPACT Certified) has been playing since she was 10 years old. AG played 6 years of travel league for MVSA. She was also a member of the Varsity team for 4 years. She transferred to Magruder HS her sophomore year and that's when her volleyball career took off. She holds the record for being 9th in Magruder’s record book for most aces. Later she continued to play collegiately at St. Mary’s Honors College of Maryland and then transferred to play Division 2 at Montgomery College where they were ranked 13th in the nation. Continuing on, she then transferred to Towson to focus on her academics and played club volleyball there. AG graduated with a Bachelors in Social Sciences. Now she is working, she finally has the time to start her coaching career. It has always been a dream/goal for her to become a coach for the next generation and to have the opportunity pass on her knowledge! (Contact: annagrace.bladen@viennaelite.org)
Carson Truong (USAV IMPACT Certified) has been playing sports his entire life and fell in love with volleyball back in 2008 when he played his first year of high school volleyball at Magruder High. The season ended for him unfortunately with a full ACL tear. The very next year, he would lead his team as captain. Carson attended UMBC for his undergraduate years and played for the club team, traveling to other colleges to compete in tournaments. In 2012, Carson opted for ACL surgery and took a year to fully recover. After college, he would play in indoor 6s and 4s tournaments throughout the year, and 9-man tournaments during the summer. The constant wear and tear lead to another partial ACL tear and a torn meniscus in the same knee evidenced in an MRI in 2016. For the next couple of years, Carson would opt for rehab and recovery instead of a 2nd surgery, finding the perfect balance between load management, weekly practices, strength training, and high-level tournament play. Since finding that balance, Carson has been playing competitively without any major injuries.
As a head of the 9-man team, DC Thunder, Carson helps players improve their level of play by building a solid foundation of fundamental skills, develop a winning strategy and mindset through building on and off the court habits, all while understanding the limitations of the body. He is excited to help the players of Vienna Elite prepare for Nationals as a coach and fully leverage 10+ years of experience in volleyball. (Contact: carson.truong@viennaelite.org)
