Code of Conduct

Player Code of Conduct

The Vienna Elite Volleyball Club (VBC) strives to create an athletic environment for youth that fosters a love for the game of volleyball and demonstrates a model for good sportsmanship. To further this goal, the Club has developed this Code of Conduct and Pledge. It applies to all players, their parents/guardians, and coaches.

1. First and foremost, I am a student.  I will strive to be the best student and member of my community I can be.  If for any reason, I am suspended or expelled from my school due to behavioral or academic violations, I understand that the club may also suspend or expel me from the club at the discretion of the club administration.
2. I will learn and understand the rules of the game and the Vienna Elite VBC, and I will not deliberately break the rules or help any other player break the rules.
3. I will respect the referees, and refrain from addressing them during or after the game unless I am the team captain on the floor, and then I will address the referees courteously, and only as provided by the rules. I understand that referees can make mistakes, but I will refrain from criticizing them or blaming them if we lose the game.
4. I will maintain control of my emotions, avoiding use of abusive and profane language, humiliating remarks and/or gestures, and threats of or use of physical violence. I fully understand that such behavior will not be tolerated by the Club and can result in temporary suspension or permanent loss of participation privileges with the Club.
5. I will respect the coaches and players of the opposing team and demonstrate appropriate gestures of good sportsmanship at the end of the game by being humble in victory and gracious in defeat.
6. I will respect the property of others, including the gymnasium in which I am a guest. Following practices/games, I will collect all my belongings and leave the gym promptly and in the condition, which I found it. I will bring no food or drink of any kind into the gym at any time.

Parent Code of Conduct

1. I realize that children are very aware of and often imitate the type of behavior I exhibit. As the parent/guardian of a Vienna Elite Volleyball player, I will set a positive example for my child while at games and practices.
2. I will acknowledge effort and good performance, remembering that all of the players in this even are amateur athletes.
