Vienna Elite will be fielding a team of (10 to 12 max)* highly skilled U12 players. Tryouts will be open to any players who qualify by age.  The team will be selected based purely on the level of talent and ability. Our U12 program is expected to be one of the most rigorous training programs in the Region.  The team is expected to be a group of players, new to club volleyball but dedicated to the sport.  The team will compete in CHRVA tournaments as well as selected multi-day tournaments. (Refer to tentative schedule)  

The U12 team is expected to practice twice per week with players encouraged to participate in optional setting, hitting, DS/Libero clinics to be offered by the club.   During the training months of November and December as well as on non-tournament weekends from January thru May, the Club may hold "Academy" which will focus on specific skills (i.e. serving, passing, setting, team defense etc). Academy will be run by special instructors or by Vienna Elite coaches.

Our club strives to be the best club in Northern Virginia when considering competitiveness of teams, level of coaching, club fees, number of tournaments and overall access to court time. Our players love to play volleyball and want to compete at a high level!

* At the discretion of the club 1 or 2 "practice players" will be considered depending on the circumstances of the team.  Practice players will not participate in any matches or tournaments unless specifically called upon by the Head Coach. 

James Howell (USAV IMPACT certified) is a seasoned volleyball player with 40 years of experience coaching and competing in the sand and indoors at various levels from club (in the US and abroad) to competing professionally in Belgium and at the highest levels in the Armed Forces with the All-Army Sports Program.  While in Europe playing for the US Armed Forces as a Middle Hitter/Blocker he led his team to win consecutive US Army European Men’s Championships in 1996 and 1997 and led the US Army Europe team to victory at the Armed Forces European Men’s Championships in 1998 where he was also named Most Valuable Player. 

Coach James’ lifelong experience as a player and coach enables him to quickly and effectively help his players perform their best through skill development and fostering a greater understanding of the strategic and tactical aspects of the game.  Coach Howell has a love and passion for the sport of volleyball and is committed to promoting the many positive and lasting offerings of this lifetime sport as well as a love for the game to his players.
