Vienna Elite will field a team of (11)* highly skilled and motivated U15 players.  The team will consist of experienced club players seeking to participate in more competitive tournaments.  The team is expected to be a competitive "OPEN" level team which will compete in selected multi-day tournaments and local CHRVA tournaments (Refer to tentative schedule below).

The U15 team is expected to practice twice per week.  During the training months of November and December as well as on non-tournament weekends from January thru May, the Club may hold "Academy" which will focus on specific skills (i.e. serving, passing, setting, team defense etc).  Academy will be run by special instructors or by Vienna Elite coaches.

Our club strives to be the best club in Northern Virginia when considering competitiveness of teams, level of coaching, club fees, number of tournaments and overall access to court time.  Our players love to play volleyball and want to compete at a high level!

** At the discretion of the club 1 or 2 "practice players" will be considered depending on the circumstances of the team.

Reggie Cruz (USAV IMPACT Certified) has played volleyball for 28 years and coaching for 20 years, in which 15 seasons were of coaching middle school boys and girls, 12 seasons of coaching high school Varsity and JV, and 17 years of coaching adult and juniors level club teams. He had coached two teams to the Junior Olympics in 2008 - 18U and 2009 - 14U. He is currently the head coach for Varsity at Fairfax High School.

Originally from Guam, Coach Reggie played Varsity high school volleyball as a Middle Hitter for John F. Kennedy High School on Guam and for the Guam National team playing in international competitions governed by the IOC (International Olympic Committee). After moving to Hawaii, he taught kinesiology as a graduate assistant at University Hawaii. Four years ago, Coach Reggie moved to Northern Virginia and is now an adapted physical education specialist for Prince William County Public Schools.  Coach Reggie was the Head Coach at Fairfax HS for several years then moving to be Asst Coach at Riverside HS in 2021.  This season he bacame the interim Head Coach of Riverside HS for the 2022 season.  Reggies has been the Head Coach of Vienna Elite 15's and 16's during the past four years. Contact: reggie.cruz@viennaelite.org

Buzz Laird (USAV IMPACT Certified) was born and raised in Virginia Beach and is currently a math teacher at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn. He grew up playing beach volleyball and then played club volleyball while at Greensboro College. He took a break from college to pursue a career as a professional baseball umpire.  During this time, he was an assistant coach for the Kellam High School Boy’s Volleyball team that won a Virginia Eastern Region Championship and played in the Virginia State Semifinals.  He married and got a degree from George Mason University. While studying at George Mason, he refereed high school volleyball and was selected to referee multiple district and regional games.  After teaching for a few years, the coaching bug hit him again.  He has been a coach for the Stone Bridge High School Girls’ Softball team for five years and is currently also the JV Girls’ Volleyball coach at Stone Bridge.  Buzz coached Vienna 16's last season earning a trickle down bid to GJNC in Indianapolis!  He is looking forward to coaching the 17 Elite team this season.  Contact: richard.laird@viennaelite.org

In addition to the above travel tournaments, the team expects to play in 1 to 2 local one day CHRVA sanctioned tournaments January thru May.   Tournaments will be determined three weeks prior to play date at the discretion of club director.
