What is Club Volleyball?

Club volleyball offers the most advanced and competitive youth volleyball in the area. Most girls on high school varsity teams also play club volleyball. Club teams are available for both girls and boys starting with Elementary School (U11, U12) going through Middle School (U13, U14) and High School (U15, U16, U17, U18).

Club volleyball requires a serious commitment, so before you consider trying out, visit the websites of each local club to learn more about its coaches, coaching philosophy, selection criteria, player expectations, practice facilities and club fees.

WHAT IS THE CLUB VOLLEYBALL COMMITMENT?

Club volleyball is a two season commitment: winter and spring (6+ months). Girl’s tryouts are always in early November and Boy’s tryouts are always in October. Teams practice 2 or 3 times per week for about 2 hours in the evenings or on weekends starting in late November.

Practices start in late November and tournaments start from January through May or June with teams competing in single-day or multi-day tournaments on weekends 2-3 times each month. Single-day tournaments are usually local within a 1 hour drive. Some multi-day tournaments are local but many are not and require overnight stays. Tournament days are LONG, running from 7 to 10 hours (no kidding) so this is a commitment for the whole family, not just the player.

Players are expected to attend all practices and tournaments. Playing time is earned during practices and is never divided up evenly. Some teams have “practice-only” players who do not attend matches in exchange for a reduced fee and a chance to improve skills and experience.

Who will coach my player?

Vienna Elite coaches are paid professionals with coaching experience and, in many cases, playing backgrounds. Coaching is not a full time job but all coaches are held to high standards and are certified through USAV, IMPACT, and SafeSport. They must also pass a background check before working with athletes.

What are the fees for club volleyball?

Club fees cover gym rental, equipment, uniform packages, USAV registration, tournament entry fees, coach salaries, administrative support, and access to recruiting resources. All Vienna Elite players receive support from a college recruiting coordinator and a Hudl account.

Fees do not include airfare, hotels, food, ground transportation to practices or out-of-town tournaments, or personal expenses.

(Most travel tournaments are Stay-to-Play, meaning players must book through specific hotels contracted by the tournament. These hotels are typically close to the venue and offered at discounted rates.)

non-refundable $1,500 ($1,000 practice player) commitment fee is due immediately after tryouts for players selected for a 12's–18's team. The remaining balance is paid in 5 monthly installments from December through April, with all fees paid by May 1. When a team offer is accepted, the commitment is for the entire club season and fees regardless of a player’s status with the team.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

We offer a 10% sibling discount on the remaining balance after the commitment fee is paid. The discount applies to the sibling with the lower or equal club fee, and both players must live in the same household.

For more info or to request the discount, email: registration@viennaelite.org

Will I miss any school?

All teams attending National Qualifiers will miss a school day for the tournaments (these are 3-day tournaments). Additional travel days may be missed depending on your schedule.

What if my player cannot make a practice?

Players are expected to attend all practices and tournaments, especially on Travel 14s–18s teams, where commitment is critical. We know things come up, but missing practice affects the whole team. Please plan ahead around school, family, and other activities.

If your player can’t make a practice, let the coach know as soon as possible so they can adjust plans.

What if my child plays multiple sports?

At Vienna Elite Volleyball Club, we encourage multi-sport athletes, especially through Junior High, as it helps build well-rounded skills. However, playing time will be at the coach’s discretion. It’s your responsibility to communicate any scheduling conflicts. We ask for as much notice as possible for missed practices and at least one month for missed tournaments.
