U14 BLACK TEAM VISION
Vienna Elite will be fielding a team of (11 or 12)* skilled U14 players. Our program is expected to be one of the most rigorous training programs in the Region. The team is expected to be a competitive team that will compete in selected multi-day tournaments and local AAU and CHRVA tournaments (Refer to the tentative schedule below).
The U14 team is expected to practice twice per week. Practices will be followed by 45 minute fitness/conditioning after practice on Wednesdays (starting 11/12 - ending 3/25). During the training months of November and December, as well as on non-tournament weekends from January through May, the Club may also hold "Academy," which will focus on specific skills (i.e., serving, passing, setting, team defense, etc). The academy will be run by special instructors or by Vienna Elite coaches.
Our club is working to create a competitive environment for players to learn and reach their maximum potential. When understanding our club fees, use these points to consider practice time, coaches, and the cost for tournaments.
* At the discretion of the club, 1 or 2 "practice players" will be considered depending on the circumstances of the team. Practice players will not participate in any matches or tournaments unless specifically called upon by the Head Coach.

COACHES
DAN BARONE - HEAD COACH
Dan Barone (USAV IMPACT 2.1 and Safesport Certified) has over five years of experience serving as a Head Coach for competitive travel U12, U13, and U14 USAV, AAU, JVA, and Loudoun Youth Volleyball (LYV) volleyball teams. He also served as an Assistant Coach for a U15 travel team for one season. Dan specializes in coaching the middle school age group at various skill levels, ranging from beginning / development levels to advanced competitive club and Open teams. He served as the Head Coach last season for the Vienna Elite U14 Black team and is returning for another season as U14 Black team Head Coach!
Dan developed a passion for coaching the sport of volleyball initially through coaching his daughter, successfully applying his previous coaching and playing experience in volleyball, lacrosse, and other sports. He routinely focuses on teaching volleyball fundamentals, developing and executing practice plans, tournament team strategies, short- and long-term player development, and player / team statistics.
Dan’s coaching philosophy is to foster a safe and constructive learning environment in which student athletes learn and practice the sport of volleyball to advance their skills, have positive on-court experiences, build the concepts of teamwork and healthy competition, advance volleyball knowledge and feel (IQ and EQ), focus on mental and physical conditioning, and to have fun.

Alana Light - ASST COACH
Alana Light (USAV Impact and SafeSport certified) brings four years of coaching experience and a lifelong passion for volleyball to the team. She played club volleyball in Northern Virginia from 7th through 12th grade, competed on Heritage High School varsity team, and went on to play volleyball in college (Virginia Tech). Her experience as both a player and coach allows her to help young athletes develop strong fundamentals, teamwork, and a love for the game. (Contact: alana.light@viennaelite.org )
